The project of the Foundation is to hold partnerships with NGO's, institutions, foundations, who work in order to reduce poverty throughout the world.

The projects

The Foundation approved since its creation in october 2008 a number of projects among which 12 MFIs have been supported after their acceptation by the project commitee. They are either already signed or paid out through guarantee or loan.

In Africa

As of the second quarter of 2010 the Foundation has financed 7 microfinance institutions in 5 countries in Africa: : Senegal, Kenya, Egypt, Mali, Tanzanie.



In Asia

As of the second quarter of 2010 the Foundation has financed 4 microfinance institutions in 3 countries in Asia: India, Philippines, Cambodia.


In Europe

The Foundation finances one MFI in Kosovo

 

The partnerships

Laiterie du Berger

Laiterie du Berger is the first social business to have signed a partnership with the Foundation. Laiterie du Berger is a Senegalese company founded in 2006 by Bagore Bathily with the help of Danone Communities. It collects milk from the Funlani farmers in North Senegal and tranforms it into dairy products such as bottled milk, powder milk, yogurts, that are sold in the country under the Dolima brand.The Foundation supports Laiterie du Berger through a 10% participation in equity. It also provides technical assistance to help develop the activity.

Babyloan

Grameen Credit Agricole Microfinance Foundation signed a partnership with Babyloan. www.babyloan.org is a microcredit website that allows internet users from the North to finance micro entrepreneurs projects in developping countries through free loans of limited amounts. This partnership initiates relations between Babyloan and MFI's supported by the Foundation. It also allows Babyloan to be relayed among the clients of the regional branches of Credit Agricole.

Crédit Foncier de Monaco

Jean Luc Perron, Managing Director of Grameen Credit Agricole Microfinance Foundation, signed on March 10, 2010 in Monaco a special partnership agreement with the monegasque government, represented by H E Mr Franck Biancheri, Foreign Affairs and Economic and International financing adviser to the Government, and Credit Foncier de Monaco, major bank of the Pincipalty, represented by its Chairman, Gilles Martinengo.
The agreement’s purpose is for the three partners to jointly propose financing and technical assistance to Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) and to participate to social businesse projects in emerging countries, with a focus on Africa.
The Credit Foncier de Monaco, a subsidiary of Credit Agricole Group, will grant for free, some of his volunteer associates to the Grameen Credit Agricole Microfinance Foundation for technical assistance missions. Extra fees generated by these missions will be supported by the Foundation and the Direction of International cooperation in Monaco.
Just before the signature of this agreement, a first mission was led in Mali / Africa, for Miselini, a partner MFI of Grameen Credit Agricole Microfinance Foundation. Besides, the partners are studying other means or financing vehicles to support microfinance and social business.---watch the TV film---

Bayard Presse

Crédit Agricole S.A., with the help fo the Foundation decided to associate to the "Green Moonth", an operation launched in 2009 by Bayard Presse, a publishing conglomerate, during the sustainable development week. The focus of this year's "Green Month" is microcredit and its role of hope lender within the fight against poverty. Through this partnership the Foundation wishes to contribute to help children and teens be aware of microcredit as a tool against poverty in Southern countries where people have no access to bank services.


Launched in 2006, the Grameen Danone Foods initiative is supported by Ideam, the Crédit Agricole subsidiary dedicated to socially responsible investment, with the danone.communities fund.
